  • Is The Clearing a broker or insurance agency?

    No. The Clearing doesn't sell Medicare plans and doesn't take commissions from carriers. Membership is the only thing we charge for.

  • Does Fern give medical or financial advice?

    No. Fern is an educational guide that helps you understand how Medicare works for your situation in clear, straightforward language. It explains options and trade-offs — it does not sell, recommend, compare, or enroll you in specific plans, and it is not legal, medical, tax, financial, or plan-specific advice. The Clearing is not an insurance agency, brokerage, carrier, or plan.

  • Can I use my membership for a spouse or parent?

    Yes. One paying account covers up to three people — you, a spouse or partner, and someone helping with care or decisions. Each can have their own login and their own Fern conversations.

  • Where do I manage billing or cancel?

    From your account page, anytime. Update your card, switch between monthly and annual, or cancel without talking to anyone. Billing is handled by our membership platform, Outseta.
