For professionals
Your clients are making a Medicare decision. Most of them are doing it alone.
Financial planners, CPAs, estate attorneys, elder-law attorneys, nonprofit advocates — the professionals your clients trust most are rarely the ones helping them sort Medicare. Not because you don't care. Because Medicare sits in a gap between what you're licensed to advise on and what your clients actually need answered before they can move forward.
The Clearing exists in that gap.
The Clearing is not an insurance agency, brokerage, carrier, or plan. Fern, our AI guide, does not sell, recommend, compare, or enroll anyone in a specific Medicare plan.
Who this is for
We are having early conversations with professionals who work with adults 55 and up — people who are already trusted by the clients we're trying to reach.
Financial planners & wealth advisors
Your clients' retirement timing is directly affected by Medicare enrollment windows, premium costs, and IRMAA surcharge brackets. Medicare decisions and retirement decisions are the same decision — and most clients don't know that until it's too late to change the sequence.
CPAs & tax professionals
You see IRMAA surcharges, HSA contribution cutoffs, and Part B late-enrollment penalties in your clients' returns. Often after the window to avoid them has already closed. The Clearing helps clients understand these rules before they become line items.
Estate planning & elder-law attorneys
You are often the first call when a parent's health situation changes and Medicare decisions can no longer be deferred. The Clearing helps clients and their families understand what options are still open — and which ones have already closed.
Estate attorneys
Coverage decisions don't happen in isolation from asset and beneficiary planning. Clients navigating both at once need a calm, neutral place to sort the Medicare side before it becomes a distraction from the work you're doing together.
Nonprofit advocates
Whether you work nationally, regionally, or locally, the populations you serve are underserved by commission-funded guidance. The Clearing is member-funded and earns nothing from plan enrollment — which means it can say things that a broker cannot.
The pattern you already know
You've had this conversation. The client who comes in already overwhelmed, having read seventeen articles and watched four YouTube videos and still can't tell you what they want. The client whose Medicare decision is holding up their retirement plan. The parent whose adult child is managing everything and doesn't know what questions to ask.
The problem isn't that your clients aren't trying. It's that nearly every source of "free" Medicare help earns a commission on the answer. The average Medicare Advantage commission is $600 per enrollee per year. Most beneficiaries don't know this when they call for guidance.
The Clearing doesn't replace your relationship with your client. It helps them arrive at your conversation ready to have it.
What The Clearing does — and doesn't do
What we do
- Help clients understand the structure of Medicare in plain language — before they're under pressure to decide
- Walk through enrollment windows, late-enrollment penalties, and the rules most people don't hear about until after they've missed them
- Explain the real tradeoffs between Original Medicare with a Medigap supplement and Medicare Advantage — without steering toward either
- Surface the questions your clients should be asking — so they arrive at your conversation with better questions
- Help adult children and caregivers understand what options are still open for a parent
What we don't do
- Sell insurance of any kind
- Recommend a specific carrier, plan, or broker
- Replace licensed advice
- Earn commissions — from anyone, ever
- Take your client out of your relationship
About The Clearing
The Clearing was founded by Dan League after seeing how hard Medicare is to navigate when nearly everyone offering help earns a commission on the answer. Dan is deep in the independent Medicare training that SHIP counselors use, and his work exists to give people the complete picture before they choose — not to steer them toward a plan.
The Clearing is member-funded. It accepts no advertising from insurance carriers or brokers. Dan is also the author of Take Your Time: The Medicare Decision That Follows You for Life — an independent, commission-free guide to the Medicare choice most people are rushed through. A calm, evidence-led resource for people who want to understand the decision before they are sold one.

We don't have a formal partnership program yet.
What we have is a genuine interest in understanding how The Clearing could be useful to the professionals whose clients need it most — and a willingness to figure that out together. No pitch. No commitment. Just a conversation.
In the meantime, you're welcome to explore Fern or read The Medicare Room.
